Many women who decide to venture into the world of technology do so from a deep desire to transform, create, and pave the way.. But they often face not only the technical and business challenges unique to the industry, but also the multiple layers of judgments and demands that society imposes when you’re a woman…and even more so if you’re a mother.

How do these challenges manifest themselves?

1๏ธโƒฃ The silent prejudice:

“And who takes care of your children while you work so hard?” A question rarely asked of a man. It reminds us that, for many people, being a mother and having ambition still seem incompatible.

2๏ธโƒฃ The demand for perfection:

As women in technology, we are expected to be flawless: bright, smooth, decisive, empathetic… and always available. More is demanded of us to prove who we already are.

3๏ธโƒฃ Lack of references:

Few women, and even fewer mothers, are visible as leaders in technology. This creates the false sense that we are “out of place,” when in fact we are making room.

Why does it become so difficult to sustain the path?

Because entrepreneurship is already challenging. Doing it while raising a child, supporting a household and navigating a masculinized environment can feel like carrying the whole world. But it’s not a lack of capacity, it’s too many obstacles.

How can we transform this reality?

1๏ธโƒฃ Honoring our duality:

Being a mother does not subtract, it adds. The empathy, resilience and organizational skills we develop are superpowers in any endeavor.

2๏ธโƒฃ Making our stories visible:

Telling what we live, without romanticizing or victimizing, is a way to inspire and break silences.

3๏ธโƒฃ Powerful Women’s Network:

Let’s ally ourselves. Let’s get together. Women who get up early to make breakfast and then sit down to design apps, lead teams or close sales. We are not alone.

4๏ธโƒฃ Educating the environment:

We do not need pity or condescension. We need spaces of respect, listening and true equity.

๐ŸŒฑ Practical example: A woman shares that she is developing her tech startup while raising two children. Someone comments, “How brave! But wouldn’t it be better to wait until they grow up?”
