The under-representation of women and girls in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) has become a major concern in recent years, both in the European Union and in other parts of the world.

Gender inequalities increase with the level of career development, both in the industrial and academic worlds. Many actions are put in place by associations, companies, consortiums of researchers, the political world, on the one hand, to increase the attractiveness of STIM sectors when choosing studies and, on the other hand, to promote equality at the various career levels.

The meeting of February 11th, organized on the International Day of Women and Girls of Science, allowed to cross the points of view on various actions put in place, in particular to attract women and girls in the STIM domain. Computer science that involves virtually all areas of STEM will be included in the discussions.

A task force will be implemented in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation to advance in this area.
