The objective of this work is to focus on the father figure, giving new light to its educational function, which often overwhelms and is placed in second place to the mother function. Starting from my internship experience, which took place through group counseling sessions for high school girls within a social promotion association in Milan , I was able to observe and interact with many teenage girls. After the internship I conducted other group counseling sessions for girls from other cities such as Verona, Bergamo, Brescia, Trieste, Turin and Rome. This opportunity allowed me to distribute an anonymous questionnaire on a daughter’s relationship with her father: the girls interviewed were 105 between 13 and 25 years of age in the listed cities, including Milan. It cannot be considered a wide-ranging research, but rather a collection of very interesting information on how a daughter lives the relationship with her dad, how she sees it and which are the characteristics that she most appreciates. The content of the survey confirms that a daughter needs to grow up under the eyes of her father and especially under his protection. Not only the authors examined, but above all the voices of the adolescents personally call on the fathers to become aware of the preciousness of their educational task.
